ABOUT KARLA

Just a bit about me... I'm a wife and mother, who is a bit klutzy, determined, and loves to have fun.

My husband, Bruce, is my best friend and greatest supporter. Our daughter, Hannah, is a wonderful blessing, absolute joy, and ball of energy all wrapped up together. I firmly believe that family is the foundation from which we learn, live, and grow. So our daughter is also a bit klutzy, determined, and has her dad's quirky sense of humor.

I grew up mainly in the Midwest, but also lived in opposite extremes such as the Philippine tropics and below-freezing temperatures of Alaska. However, I consider myself a Grand Junction, Colorado native after having lived here a bit shy of two decades.

I started writing at a very young age with keeping a journal. Mounds of notebooks and years of thoughts and feelings fill countless pages. Then writing became my therapeutic escape to form feelings, experiences, and pain into poetry. By sitting down to write, I focus on the lessons to be learned through difficulty, rather than wallowing in self-pity.

about_page1.jpg,My writing has taken various forms over the years. I spent eighteen years drafting legal documents as a legal assistant. As an office manager of a website design company, I write web copy and training scripts. As a writer for my church's drama ministry, I bring truth to life in humorous and touching dramas. As a freelance writer, I write magazine articles and am in the process of working on a nonfiction book for parents.

If I'm not writing or working, you can find me outdoors skiing, hiking, or biking with my family. If indoors, we might be playing board games or cooking up something tasty. Another enjoyable hobby is planning our next family vacation or a get-away for a friend or family member. I'm all about relaxation, rest, and rejuvenation!
